There's this CCTV drama serial showing on Channel 8 that I have to miss because I'm working. Everytime I get home, I catch like maybe 5 or 10m and then it ends. Which sucks, because this is one of those classical stories that I want to see a modern-day TV reproduction of (the other being Rot3k, which I think is currently in the works--yay.)

The title is: 封神榜 (Feng Shen Bang, lit. Investiture of the Gods). It's the story that contains the origins of the "historical" Daji, as well as some of the other gods and heroes like Erlang Shen and Lei Gong. As with all modern China-made period dramas, the production values are exquisite and par excellence.

Fan Bingbing is appropriately bewitching as Daji: [pic 1] [pic 2] -- she should be cast as Diao Chan in Rot3k. But she's not.
& Ma Jingtao looks impressive in period costume: [pic 1] [pic 2] -- for some reason, I just feel he would make a very good Sun Quan (or Shamo Ke.)

Maybe I'd get the CDs or something, but I don't know if I'd have the patience to actually sit down and watch it (the tedium of switching discs--ugh!)
